Zoe Sugg: Ghostwriting ‘Girl Online’

Hello, readers!

As some of you may be aware, there has been some speculation as to whether YouTube star Zoella wrote her debut novel Girl Online by herself, or whether she had help from Penguin.

Of course, all writers need an editor; that much is obvious. But is getting somebody to do most of the work for you ethical? Then sticking your name on it!

We all know that Sugg has helped thousands of girls with her blog posts and videos on Social Anxiety, but is she being completely honest with us? Yes.

She tweeted that she did have help with her book, and in the acknowledgments there are parts that could be hints to ghostwriting.

According to the Telegraph, ghostwriter Siobhan Curran is responsible for Girl Online.

I must admit, I am probably the biggest Zoella fan in the world, and I loved Girl Online. But now that I’ve read what I have, I have my doubts.

What about you? What do you think about this so-called ‘scandal’? Leave me a comment.

If you want to read the Telegraph’s article on Sugg’s book, then just go to http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/celebritynews/11280323/Zoella-quits-internet-after-Girl-Online-ghostwriting-row.html

  1. Definitely not ‘scandal’! I haven’t read it yet but I’m excited to 🙂 Regardless of whether Zoella officially wrote it or not, I believe she had the key role in the ideas and characters for the book and seeing as she’s so busy – like many a youtuber! – I wouldn’t blame her with having help to get it written. Still love Zoella and always will 😀
